Having the right attitude to caring is probably the most important ingredient of quality care. It is arguably more important than training and qualifications although those elements are also an essential part of quality care. Because empathy and concern for others is an innate quality it is important that the requisite quality is identified at recruitment stage. One of the biggest problems of the caring professions is that natural empathy is not given sufficient emphasis in the post-modern high-tech caring world. |
